• What coverages does Kinsale’s General Casualty Division offer?

  We offer standalone Commercial General Liability insurance, Liquor Liability insurance, and Impairment Liability insurance with Occurrence & Claims-Made forms available for more than 200 eligible OL&T/premises-related classes.

  We also provide additional coverages and enhancement that allow you to customize insurance solutions to your accounts’ specific needs. We specialize in industries including habitational, hospitality, hotels and lodging, education and religion, and wide range of miscellaneous classes like retail, office buildings, vacant land, and more.

• The Small Business and General Casualty Divisions have similar target classes. How do I know where to send my submission?

  Kinsale’s Small Business and General Casualty Divisions share a broad appetite for general liability risks. The primary distinction is based on premium size:

  • Small Business: Accounts with premiums under $7,500
  • General Casualty: Accounts with premiums $7,500 & above

  Both divisions commonly consider:

  • Hotels & motels
  • Apartment complexes & condominium associations
  • Homeowners associations (HOAs)
  • Real estate development land
  • Lessor’s risk (LRO) properties

  The General Casualty team, however, handles the following classes exclusively:

  • Liquor liability risks: Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, gentlemen’s clubs, liquor stores, convenience stores
    • Minimum premiums typically start at $2,500
  • Security guard companies
    • Minimum premium starts at $3,500
  • Daycares, schools, & houses of worship

• Does Kinsale offer Liquor Liability insurance?

  Yes, Kinsale offers Liquor Liability insurance in all states except Georgia and Michigan.

  Our minimum premium starts at $2,500, and coverage options include:

  • Package policy: Combined with General Liability (GL)
  • Monoline policy: Standalone Liquor Liability coverage

  We do not require a supplemental application, but have made one available on our website if needed for any reason.

• What is Impairment Liability insurance?

  Impairment Liability insurance protects a business or individual against claims arising from bodily injury or property damage caused by products that cause impairment, such as alcohol alternatives or cannabis-infused products.

• Does Kinsale offer Impairment Liability coverage?

  Yes, Kinsale offers Impairment Liability insurance across multiple divisions:

  • General Casualty: Hospitality & retail risks
  • Entertainment: Special events, concerts, festivals, tours, private clubs, resorts, retreats
  • Products Liability: Dispensaries with on-premises consumption

  The General Casualty Division offers Impairment Liability on a monoline (standalone) basis, or it can be packaged with Liquor Liability and/or General Liability. We do not require a supplemental applications, but we have one available on our website if needed.

  Coverages are written on a Claims Made form with $300,000 Occurrence/$300,000 aggregate limits, and minimum premiums start at $2,500.

  If different coverage or higher limits are needed, you can contact your assigned underwriter, or reach out to your dedicated territory manager.

• Does Kinsale insure daycares with Sexual Abuse and Molestation (SAM) and Professional Liability coverage?

  Yes, Kinsale offers General Liability insurance for daycares, including:

  • Commercial daycare centers
  • In-home daycares
  • Private learning pods

  Coverage details:

  • Policies written on a Claims Made basis
  • Minimum premium starts at $5,000
  • Sexual Abuse and Molestation (SAM) and Professional Liability available on a case-by-case basis

• Does Kinsale offer Hired and Non-Owned Auto (HNOA) as standalone coverage?

  No, Kinsale does not offer monoline Hired and Non-Owned Auto (HNOA). However, we can consider adding it to many of our classes subject to our HNOA supplemental application.

• Does Kinsale offer standalone Assault & Battery or Abuse & Molestation coverage?

  No, Kinsale does not offer monoline Assault & Battery (A&B) or Abuse & Molestation (A&M) coverage. However, these coverages may be added to eligible policies on a case-by-case basis.

• My initial quote isn't quite where it needs to be. How can I request a revised quote?

  At Kinsale, the first quote is just the start. Our goal is to make sure your accounts get the coverages they need—and because our underwriters are experienced, creative thinkers, we tend to get it right quickly. But if you ever need to negotiate terms and price, let us know. We’ll work with you.

• I’d like to get a direct appointment with Kinsale. How do I do that?

  If you are a wholesale broker with a surplus license interested in an appointment, the process is simple! The first step is to complete our online Producer Questionnaire.  Once you’ve completed the form and attached the necessary documents, you will be able to provide an e-signature, click “Continue,” and the form will be sent to us automatically.

  Be sure to have the following available to either upload online or email as an attachment: your entity/individual producer license(s) for all states, a copy of your latest financial statement, a Fidelity Declarations plan, and a E&O Declarations page.
