Transportation General Liability

Kinsale offers Transportation General Liability through our Commercial Auto Division, providing solutions for small-to-midsize fleets and businesses. We can offer up to $1 million in primary limits with low minimum premiums and the creativity to craft coverage that fits each account.

We can consider hard-to-insure accounts, like new ventures, those with poor loss histories, or those with non-preferred drivers.

Submission Requirements:

• Underlying Auto Liability terms & General Liability terms when applicable
• Auto fleet breakout by vehicle type, including radius of operations & commodities hauled
  • ­­Year, make, model, & 17-digit VIN also required
• MVRs for drivers operating a scheduled auto
• Acceptable Commercial Insurance application & Excess/Umbrella application
• Supplemental application, where appropriate (signed & dated by the insured when bound)
• Five-year currently valued company loss runs with a description provided for large losses (over $100,000)

• What Commercial Auto insurance products does Kinsale offer?

  Our Commercial Auto Division provides Excess Auto Liability for a range of automotive business, from long-distance hauling to contractor fleets. We can provide lead excess or buffer layers on an unsupported or supported basis. We target small to midsize risks, including those in difficult legal venues or with hard-to-insure operations.

  In addition to Excess Auto Liability, we also offer Non-Dealer’s Garage Liability, and Transportation General Liability.

• Is Primary Auto Liability available through the Commercial Auto Division?

  No, we do not write primary auto liability currently. We provide Excess Auto Liability for trucking and contractor fleets, and we provide Auto Liability associated with test driving of customer-owned autos during Garage operations.

• What is your Excess Auto Liability capacity?

  In lead positions, we offer excess limits up to $2M. In select cases, we can consider greater capacity at higher attachment points. For example, we could potentially consider a $3M excess layer attached at two times the primary to help complete a $5M million excess tower.

• Is there a target fleet size for Excess Auto Liability?

  We can handle a variety of account sizes; however, we focus on non-fleet trucking (1–10 units) and contractor fleets.

• Can Transportation General Liability risks be included with your Excess Auto terms?

  Most definitely! We regularly sit excess of both General Liability and Excess Auto policies.
