Kinsale offers Transportation General Liability through our Commercial Auto Division, providing solutions for small-to-midsize fleets and businesses. We can offer up to $1 million in primary limits with low minimum premiums and the creativity to craft coverage that fits each account.

We can consider hard-to-insure accounts, like new ventures, those with poor loss histories, or those with non-preferred drivers.

• What Garage-related insurance products does Kinsale offer?

  Our Commercial Auto division offers Non-Dealer’s Garage Liability with Garagekeepers coverage for businesses servicing vehicles left in their custody.

  We specialize in creative solutions for hard-to-insure Garage Liability accounts, including those with poor loss history, gaps in coverage, or high-hazard operations, offering flexible primary limits, as well as excess coverage that is available on a supported or unsupported basis.

  In addition to Non-Dealer’s Garage Liability with Garagekeepers coverage, we also offer Excess Auto Liability and Transportation General Liability.

• What is the difference between Garage Liability and Garagekeepers coverage?

  Garage Liability and Garagekeepers insurance, sometimes called “Garage Keepers insurance,” cover different risks.

  Garage Liability provides coverage for bodily injury or property damage that occurs as a result of garage operations, such as test-driving vehicles or customer injuries that occur on business premises.

  Garagekeepers insurance protects customers’ vehicles while they are in the care, custody, or control of the insured business. For example, Garagekeepers insurance would help cover a vehicle damaged during repairs, detailing, or storage.

• Can Kinsale provide Garagekeepers-only coverage?

  No, we do not provide monoline Garagekeepers coverage, but we can provide Garagekeepers when quoting Non-Dealer’s Garage Liability for a garage operation.

• Does Kinsale write Dealer's Garage Liability?

  We do not write Dealer’s Garage Liability currently, but plan to do so in the future so be sure to check back! Currently, we provide Non-Dealer’s Garage Liability with a Garagekeepers coverage option. 

• What is a garage form, and is it necessary to get a quote?

  It definitely helps! Garage forms are built with auto-related services in mind. They are comprehensive forms designed to address the unique and complex coverage needs of insureds in the auto servicing and repairs industry.

Providing a completed garage form (or its equivalent application) with a submission helps to capture the operational nuances, vehicle exposures, and onsite risk characteristics of your account and allows us to provide a faster, more streamlined quote. • What is the difference between a garage form and a Commercial General Liability (CGL) form?

  A garage form is uniquely tailored for auto-related businesses like dealers and repair shops. It includes Premises, Products, and Completed Operations Liability along with Commercial Auto and Garagekeepers coverage for customers’ vehicles.

  A CGL form provides similar Premises, Products, and Completed Operations protection, but it excludes auto-related exposures.
