Submission Requirements:

• Signed and dated Airport, Aviation General Liability, or Aviation Products Manufacturing/Distribution Kinsale supplemental application
• Five-year currently-valued company loss runs
• Copies of the following:
  • Any FAA certificates held by insured
  • Any FAA or NTSB reports involving insured’s operations
• Website information, brochure, or product catalog as appropriate to insured’s operations

Available Coverage Enhancements:

• On-airport-premises auto coverage and hired/non-owned coverage
• Coverage territory expansion endorsement for outer space
• Specific Additional Insured & Waiver of Subrogation endorsements available naming airports, manufacturers, & other common contractually-required entities in the aviation industry

• What does ground-based aviation insurance typically cover?

  Ground Operations Aviation insurance covers businesses that work on, around, or in support of aircraft while they are on the ground. Coverage typically combines Aviation General Liability, Products/Completed Operations Liability, Hangarkeepers Liability, and Grounding Liability to protect against aircraft damage, third-party injury, and claims arising from services or components connected to aviation operations.

• What insurance products does Kinsale offer for ground-based aviation operations, and how do they work?

  Kinsale’s Aviation Division offers:

  • Aviation General Liability for third-party bodily injury or property damage arising from your aviation premises or operations, excluding aircraft in your custody
  • Products & Completed Operations Liability to cover components, repairs, or installations after delivery
  • Hangarkeepers’ Liability to cover damage to aircraft in your care, custody, or control (CCC) while being stored, serviced, towed, or moved on the ground.
  • Grounding Liability to protect from financial-loss claims arising from grounding a customer’s aircraft

  All of our Ground Operations products are available on a primary, excess, and quota-share basis. We can also consider aviation-only risks, as well as manufacturers and contractors with partial aviation exposures or UAS/drone exposures.

  We also provide Aircraft Hull and Liability coverage for a variety of general aviation aircraft and pilots, as well as for drones and unmanned aerial systems.

• What limits are available for Kinsale's ground-based Aviation coverages?

  For General Liability, Products/Completed Operations Liability, Hangarkeepers Liability, and Grounding Liability, we can consider up to $10M in total capacity on a primary, excess, or quota share basis. 

• Can your Aviation team underwrite one policy for a company whose products and services are offered across multiple industries?

  Yes, we have the flexibility to consider aviation-related exposures for multiple industries on a single policy, simplifying the company’s insurance program. Common examples include machine shops and other manufacturers that serve multiple industries and detailers that work on aircraft, automobiles, and watercraft.

• Does Kinsale's Aviation Division offer property coverage on hangars?

  Our Aviation Division does not offer property coverage on hangars, but we do offer hangar coverage through our Small Property and Commercial Property Divisions. Information on offering, appetite, and points of contact can be found on each divisions’ webpage.
